Breakfast Is Important While Dieting
The saying is true; Breakfast really is the most important meal of the day. When dieting, it is important that you don't cut out meals, including breakfast.
After sleeping all night, which in turn means fasting for 8-12 hours, your body needs energy to get up and go. That's where breakfast comes in.
Eating breakfast is part of a healthy lifestyle and not just a healthy diet. Many studies have found a relationship between eating breakfast and attention span, learning ability and general well being.
Eating breakfast can also help you control your hunger. But stay away from the jelly, bagels, Danishes etc. These are all high carbohydrate foods and are out of your system within half an hour and you then feel the need to eat again. That certainly won't help with your weight loss plan.
Ingredients of a Good Breakfast
Instead, try to eat a breakfast that has some protein and a little fat. This will stay in your system longer, avoiding the craving to eat again so soon after breakfast.
A good balanced meal before you start your day will help control your weight a lot more than snacking here and there until lunch.
A good breakfast can consist of many things such as fruit, cheese, milk, cereal, whole grain breads, or eggs. If you eat some type of fruit in the morning, it can keep you from becoming constipated. Fruit also helps you get your recommended daily requirement of minerals, vitamins, and carbohydrates.
It is also important for both a balanced breakfast and your diet plan, that you get a serving of food high in protein. You can get this protein in something as simple as a glass of milk, a piece of cheese or an egg. Protein helps to keep you from getting hungry mid-morning, which will keep you on track with your weight loss plan.
The bottom line is that no one should skip breakfast even when dieting. During the day when you are active, your body needs maximum calories and nutrients. Missing breakfast can slow down the rate at which you burn calories. This can often lead to overeating at night, when energy demands are not at a maximum and calories are more likely to be stored as body fat.
