More Information on Burning Calories

An important part of any weight loss plan is exercise. Your body intakes calories when you eat. In order to effectively lose weight, you need to increase your activity to burn more calories in combination with eating fewer calories each day.

A pound of fat has 3500 calories. So, if your goal is to lose one pound a week, then you would need to decrease your caloric total (how many calories you take in, minus any calories burned via exercise) by 3500 a week.

As you can see above, there are many ways to burn excess calories with everyday activities and mild exercise. Be careful not to overdo it though. Your body needs calories to function and be healthy. The average person needs an intake of 2000 calories a day.
